Methodology: Working from natural life

Summary of contents: I propose a course in which we use the possibility of having a model who will pose us to work live. The idea is that you have two options, one is to make a portrait by studying the head, and the other is to make a study of the whole body, its posture and movement. We will also be able to make preliminary drawings for those who are interested.

I think that the interesting thing about working with a model and not with photographs is that, as it is a live person in front of us, you will be able to learn better the analysis of shapes, proportions, expressiveness, deformations, shadows, lights, etc.

Those who want to start drawing can use drawing as a tool to better understand the sculpture they are going to approach.

Materials: The main working material will be clay for modelling, and we will work with our hands and wooden sticks. We will have tables and supports on which you will be able to model the proposed exercises. Each participant will have their own table. The model will be placed in the centre so that everyone can see it. At the end of each day we will cover the clay and dampen it with a spray bottle so that it doesn’t dry out.

There will also be paper, pencils, charcoal, erasers, etc. for drawing, but those who have already drawn can also bring their own materials.
